Amazon Debuts Alan Yang’s ‘Forever’ With Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen

Amazon Prime Original debuted its Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard-created series  “Forever,” starring Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen, on Friday.

The dramedy follows ordinary married couple June and Oscar. It opens with a nostalgic montage of their relationship pre-marriage up to their comfortable lifestyle in suburban Riverside, California. For the past 15 years, the couple was content with their annual fishing trip. But as the trailer suggests, the audience can see June slowly retract from this routine and start questioning if there’s more to life, leading her to suggest a skiing trip to shake things up. What ensues tests the dynamic of their relationship.

The rest of the plot has been kept under wraps on purpose, according to Yang. “They can go in without expectations and enjoy the series for what it is,” he told The Hollywood Reporter at the show’s red carpet premiere.

Rudolph and Armisen, both “Saturday Night Live” alums, came to Yang a year and a half ago with the simple premise of wanting to work together. Yang directed four of the eight episodes released for Season 1, including the pilot. He has produced other hit comedies including “Master of None,” “The Good Place” and “Parks and Recreation,” where he first worked with Hubbard.
