Marine Corps Col. Daniel Yoo will soon become the first Korean American general in the history of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Yoo, who is a Marine Corps fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, was nominated to the the rank of brigadier general, said a U.S. defense official. According to the Korea Times, Yoo most recently commanded the 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division at Camp Schwab in Okinawa, Japan

Yoo has earned the Bronze Star Medal for outstanding performance as a commander of a U.S. unit in Afghanistan, and was a national security affairs fellow at the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace at Stanford University.
