‘Fixer Upper’ Star Joanna Gaines Tops TV Personality Ranking

HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” co-host Joanna Gaines is No. 1 on a Top TV Personalities list, which bases its ranking the popularity of TV personalities on social media platforms, according to the Hollywood Reporter, which published the list.

Notable figures that Gaines topped in the top 10 include Jimmy Fallon, who comes in at No. 2; Oprah Winfrey, who comes in at No. 8; Anderson Cooper, who comes in at No. 9; and Gaines’ husband, Chip Gaines, who comes in at No. 7.

Gaines is of half-Korean, a quarter Lebanese and a quarter German descent. She met and married Chip in 2003 after she graduated from Baylor University with a background in communications. They would go on to create Magnolia, a home accessory store. Since then, the couple has managed to expand their business to different areas, including real estate, construction and design.

“Fixer Upper,” which has been airing since 2013, is a home remodeling show in which Joanna and Chip take on clients in the Waco, Texas, area in an attempt to turn the clients’ “fixer-uppers” into dream homes. They have worked on more than 100 homes together.

Gaines currently has 4.8 million Instagram followers on Instagram, more than 2.3 million on Facebook and half a million on Twitter.

The list was compiled through the help of data provided by MVPIndex, a social media analytics company which recently announced its partnership with THR. The two companies plan to continue creating social media-based ranking lists, like Top Actor and Top Comedians, and publish them on a weekly basis.
