It’s been a wild couple of year for gaysians in entertainment, from Nicos Santos’ performance as Oliver T’sien in “Crazy Rich Asians” to The Try Guys’ Eugene Lee Yang’s epic coming out video.
Now at this year’s Outfest, an annual festival that showcases LGBTQ-oriented films in Los Angeles, there will be a panel discussing what it’s like to be gay and Asian in the entertainment business, Crazy Queer Asians. The panel will feature speakers like Vincent Rodriguez III (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”), Nik Dodani (“Atypical”), Nicky Endres (“One Day at a Time”) and others. Topics will range from examining the impact of the high-voltage careers of queer, Asian icons like Gregg Araki (“The Doom Generation”) and Margaret Cho (“All-American Girl”). The panel will take place on July 20 at 1:30 p.m. at TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood. The discussion will also be preceded by a short film by comedian Kevin Yee.
