Gawker recently did a funny post on Racist Halloween Costumes, so we thought we’d one-up them and do a blog of our own.
These are in no particular order.
Illegal Alien
Someone at the costume-making factory got bit by the literal bug. This costume got immigrants all riled up, and the costume’s description doesn’t help: “He didn’t just cross a border, he crossed a galaxy!” He’s got his green card, but it’s from another planet!”

Underage Chinese Gymnast
Two years ago, blogger Metrodad dressed up his daughter as an underage Chinese gymnast, sky-high eyeshadow and all. We actually think this one is pretty darn adorable. But you can probably only pull this off if you’re under the age of 16 10, so don’t go trying to sex this costume up. That’s just wrong.
Antoine Dodson
Under any other circumstances, this costume would be pretty offensive. But the man who became famous for the line, “Hide yo’ kids, hide yo’ wife,” is actually endorsing the costume himself. Which, I guess, makes it okay to put on a fro, bandana and black beater…just don’t do it next year. By then, this costume will definitely just be racist.
Asian Geisha Mouse Costume
I’m not going to even pretend to understand this one. Just don’t buy it.

Asian Takeout Costume
I guess I should just be happy the girl isn’t posing with a peace sign. Besides the obvious racist undertones in this costume, doesn’t it just seem kind of uncomfortable? Do you really want to walk around in a huge box?

I did not make up with the name of this costume.
I left out all those generic Asian slutty girl costumes, because by now, you’re either for them or you’re not. But we do have a post for those of you guys looking for some good Asian inspired costumes that aren’t offensive, courtesy of Michelle Woo.
