CBS’ upcoming multi-camera family comedy has found new family members. According to Deadline, Hina Abdullah, Bernard White and Gita Reddy will join Nishi Munshi as series regulars.
“Pandas in New York” is written by “The Carmichael Show” scribe Ajay Sahgal and will follow an Indian family of doctors living in the Big City. The Pandas are concerned about their youngest son, Rishi, who has plans apart from going into the family business.
Abdullah most recently starred in TNT’s “The Last Ship” and will be playing Rishi’s modern younger sister who supports his decision to make his own plans for his life.
“Rebel in the Rye” actor Bernard White will play the family patriarch, Om, who is the most shocked by Rishi’s plans to subvert the family’s expectations. Reddy will round out the family cast as Pushpa, who is equally stunned by her son’s insistence on joining the Bronx Free Clinic.
Also joining the cast is Dan O’Brien, who starred in NBC’s “Whitney.” He will take on the role of Jim, the husband of Nishi Munshi’s character, Gita.
CBS’ “Pandas in New York” does not yet have a premiere date.
