Scarlett Johansson Is Not Part of The New ‘Ghost In The Shell’ Anime

As reported by Kotaku, publisher Kodansha and animation company Production I.G. have announced the production of a new “Ghost In The Shell” anime series.

No further details — including an official title — have yet been announced, besides the fact that veteran directors Kenji Kamiyama, who helmed “Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex,” and Shinji Aramaki, creator and director of “Appleseed,” another classic sci-fi cyborg action anime, will direct.

Fans of the manga have been through the good and the bad, from the classic 1995 film to its recent Hollywood live-action production starring Scarlett Johansson, which has become the center of Hollywood’s whitewashing controversy.
