Los Angeles and New York K-pop fans might be missing the annual KCON convention and concert series, where fans meet up with fellow K-pop lovers and immerse in days full of excitement. But this year, in 2020 fashion, the event is coming straight to your home—this time, for a whole week.
Between June 20 and 26, fans will be able to watch a YouTube marathon stream of live and pre-taped content, featuring performances from K-pop artists, meet-and-greet sessions, and influencer-led panels. An interactive element is also included in this year’s program, as attendees can take part in live video chats and polls with around 30 artists and influencers. If you want an even closer look at your favorite stars, the organizers offer the latest VR and AR technology for fans to opt in.
After nine consecutive years of KCON, the convention has become a great space for global K-pop fans to share their love for Korean music and learn more about the culture. KCON LA 2019 broke its own record for hosting over 158,000 attendees, spanning four full days. Besides its usual intentions of connecting K-pop fanatics, KCON 2020 will dedicate part of its proceeds to UNESCO’s Learning Never Stops campaign, which will help children impacted by COVID-19 across the world continue their education.
The 2020 lineup already looks fire, with confirmation from renowned artists like Chung Ha, MONSTA X, MAMAMOO and many more. Throughout the week, hop on Mnet’s official K-POP YouTube Channel to stream the program’s exclusive content, available with English subtitles.
