As you probably already know, Cut Video has been working on a brilliant video series called 100 Years of Beauty. Each video in the series follows a culture through their various ideals of beauty throughout the century, allowing audiences to see the drastic changes in beauty trends over the years.
“Beauty is universal and unrelated to the factors, like politics or religion, that could influence fashion,” says Mike Gaston, the creative director of Cut Video. “An American can see something like a setting sun and grasp why that’s beautiful just like someone in Korea or India can as well.”
In this way, makers of the 100 Years of Beauty series hope the videos can show audiences that anyone can experience beauty and ideals are constantly shifting. Beauty truly does lie in the eyes of the beholder.
We’ve already seen 100 Years of Korean and Filipino beauty. Just yesterday, Cut Video uploaded their latest addition to the series: 100 Years of Indian Beauty. We can see the simplistic beauty trends of the 1910’s, the western cultural influences of the 1950’s, the rise of Bollywood-inspired trends in the 1960’s and even modern day Indian beauty trends.
