Got your tissues ready? You’ll definitely need them after you watch this touching video showing children of Asian immigrants talking about the many sacrifices their parents made simply because they hoped for a brighter future for their children.
While this is certainly not the case for all Asian families with immigrant parents, it seems there are quite a number of us who can relate to the Asian Americans in this video. Buzzfeed staff and even YouTubers Chris Dinh and AJ Rafael opened up about their parents leaving everything and everyone they knew just to move to America for a better future. Some spoke of the long hours their parents had to take on and the struggle to remain financially stable. Others shared heartbreaking stories from their childhood of the culture shock their parents had to face.
At the end of the video, the participants were given the opportunity to say a few words to their parents. Needless to say, their words truly resonate with those of us who grew up in a similar situation.
To all the parents out there who bravely sacrificed everything for their children, this is for you.
