Watch K’naan, Riz MC & More ‘Get the Job Done’ in New ‘Hamilton’ MV

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s runaway Broadway sensation “Hamilton” got the remix treatment with “The Hamilton Mixtape” last year, and today, a music video for one of the tracks was dropped on the musical’s YouTube channel.

“Immigrants (We Get the Job Done)” is the collaborative rap masterpiece of K’naan featuring Residente, Riz MC (aka Riz Ahmed, the actor you’ve seen everywhere from HBO’s “The Night Of” to the latest “Bourne” film), Snow Tha Product and Daveed Diggs singing his iconic line from “Yorktown.” The music video opens with a trainful of immigrants nervously journeying to America and listening via radio as a news anchor notes that in a “nation founded by immigrants, ‘immigrant’ has somehow become a bad word.”

K’naan, Residente, Snow Tha Product, Riz MC and Miranda all have immigrant backgrounds and each of their verses speaks their truth about the immigrant experience in America.

“Hamilton” first burst onto the Broadway scene and sparked a revolution nearly two years ago, but the musical is still making waves today. The story of Alexander Hamilton, an orphan immigrant who became one of America’s Founding Fathers, struck a chord with audiences who saw in the stubborn Hamilton a reflection of their country’s tenacious spirit. Meanwhile, the diversity of the cast and the fiery rap and hip-hop music connected the past with the present and allowed Broadway to reach wider and more diverse audiences.
