TCA Awards nominates Aziz Ansari, Constance Wu for comedy

Aziz Ansari and Constance Wu, stars of “Master of None” and “Fresh Off The Boat,” are nominees in the individual achievement in comedy category for the 32nd annual Television Critics Association Awards.

Ansari, who leads “Master of None” as both actor and co-creator, has received critical acclaim for playing the role of Dev Shah, a New Yorker facing the struggles of having a successful love life and career in his thirties. The show, which streams on Netflix, was renewed for a second season and comes back next year.

In ABC’s “Fresh Off The Boat,” Wu plays Jessica Huang, wife to Randall Park’s Louis. The series – only the second Asian American family sitcom since Margaret Cho’s “All-American Girl” in the 1990s — will kick off its third season in October.

Ansari and Wu are joined in the category by Samantha Bee (“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee”), Rachel Bloom (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”), Aya Cash (“You’re The Worst”) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”) in the honor.

The full list of nominees, released today by the organization comprising more than 200 professional American and Canadian journalists and TV critics, includes recognition for actors, producers and programs across five broadcast networks, Netflix, PBS and 12 cable networks.

The award show, hosted by Jaime Camil, will take place Aug. 6 inside The Beverly Hilton.
